Chelsea have urged to sign Girona central midfielder Aleix Garcia as the Blues seek to sign a central midfielder before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea have been unable to reach an agreement with Benfica and Brighton for the transfer of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo respectively.
According to Chelsea fan @Blue_Footy, Chelsea should sign Garcia this January as he would be cheap with his contract expiring in the summer and then push for key transfer targets like Fernandez and Caicedo in the summer.
Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Garcia as a free agent at the end of the season.
@Blue-Footy tweeted: “If Chelsea are looking for a low-budget available CM/CDM, I will suggest we look at Girona’s Aleix Garcia. 25 years, with 6 months left in his contract.
“Solid midfielder on the ball, wins duels, and is a dead ball specialist. He’s one of the reasons I enjoy watching Girona.
“I watch Girona a lot. They play some of the best football in La Liga. They play their game irrespective of the result.
“Garcia is a solid, consistent midfielder. I believe he will end up at Barça when his contract expires in June.
“Will make a quality squad midfielder 4 Chelsea.”
He added: “Talked about Aleix Garcia and people who know nothing about him underrate him.
“Just watch his games for Girona and tell me if he’s not close to Enzo in quality. He’s just older but in terms of short passing, duels, switches, offensive and defensive actions, they’re similar.
“Just look deeper, you will be impressed and that’s the kind of players we should be looking at. Cost effective backups, that’s if we later sign Enzo.
“I think Garcia has it all. His duel stats are ridiculous, chance creation the same, with top long ball accuracy. He’s class.”
