Newcastle United are confident of signing Chelsea transfer target and Everton winger Anthony Gordon, according to Goal.

Chelsea had several bids for Gordon rejected by Everton last summer as they insisted on a valuation of £60million for the 21 year old.

The Blues remain interested in signing the Everton winger and are believed to be preparing an offer for Gordon this January.

However, Newcastle United believe they are in pole position to land the England Under-21 international with Gordon understood to be keen on a move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle United reportedly hope to complete the deal for Gordon before the transfer window closes on January 31.
