According to Portuguese media outlet Record via Football London, Chelsea have not given up on signing Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez this January.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to submit another bid for the Benfica midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Benfica are reportedly unlikely to budge on their stance on Fernandez meaning Chelsea must pay his €120million release clause to sign the midfielder this January.

The Portuguese giants have maintained throughout the window that only the release clause in Fernandez’s contract, that they inserted in the summer following his move from River Plate, would have to be activated for a transfer to occur. 

Fernandez provided two exquisite assists in Benfica’s 3-0 victory over Santa Clara over the weekend.
