La Liga blocking Barcelona from signing this Chelsea player in January

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Barcelona’s interest in re-signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the January transfer window.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer, but has struggled to produce his best form in a Chelsea shirt.

Aubameyang is reportedly interested in leaving Chelsea in January but his only option is a return to Barcelona as FIFA rules mean he can’t play for three clubs in a single season.

“A deal for Barcelona to re-sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea depends on La Liga, because at the moment the rules are not allowing Barcelona to proceed with the transfer; let’s see if they will get a green light but at the moment, no,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

“Barcelona could only proceed for a loan or free transfer, nothing big or imminent yet.”
