Chelsea boss Graham Potter wants to reduce his squad size after the Blues signed five players during the January transfer window, according to Evening Standard.

The Blues have signed David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk this January.

Chelsea have a squad of 33 players after signing 14 players this season, according to the report.

Chelsea face having to leave players out of Champions League squads for the second half of the season if the squad isn’t reduced.

Kai Havertz, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic all face uncertain futures at Chelsea following Chelsea’s transfer activity.

Potter has admitted concern about having a bloated squad.

The Chelsea manager said: “We’ve got to be, not necessarily careful, but you’ve got to understand we’ve got ten or eleven players unavailable and you can’t just sign players to replace those because then you’d have a squad of 30 and that is a problem.

“So you have to do the right thing and look at what the right solutions are. Sometimes they are not aligned completely as you’d like them because the January window is complicated. But always my job is to try to support the club, make the right decisions, and help the team improve.”
