Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist believes that Newcastle United fans would warm to Conor Gallagher straight away if they sign him this month. 

Gallagher is attracting interest from Newcastle United with Eddie Howe exploring the possibility of snapping up the Chelsea star on loan, amid struggles for regular game time at Stamford Bridge. 

“Conor Gallagher is the kind of player that I think Newcastle would be going for,” McCoist told talkSPORT.

“Young, hungry. The way he plays the game, the Newcastle fans would take to him. 

“He’s high energy, great effort. Perfect.”
