Chelsea transfer target Enzo Fernandez was on target as Benfica beat Varzim 2-0 on Tuesday night to progress into the Taca de Portugal quarter-finals.
Fernandez sent a clear transfer message to Chelsea after scoring against Varzim.
After scoring against Varzim, Fernandez repeatedly hit the Benfica badge on his shirt in front of the travelling supporters and pointed to the ground, indicating he would remain at Benfica.
Benfica manager Roger Schmidt also confirmed the Argentine international will remain with Chelsea.
He said: “I can say that I expect Enzo Fernández to stay, so to have Enzo at the end of the market… I never doubted Enzo, his attitude and personality. He’s a great person, he’s at Benfica, he loves playing for Benfica.”
