Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has stepped down from his position as Chelsea’s interim sporting director, according to The Telegraph.

Boehly made himself interim sporting director after buying the club from Roman Abramovich and following the departures of Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech last summer.

Boehly installed himself as ‘interim’ sporting director, promising to oversee the club’s transfer business alongside then-manager Thomas Tuchel until a permanent replacement was found.

The American billionaire has hired a recruitment team and is now just Chelsea’s chairman after stepping down as interim director.

Christopher Vivell and Paul Winstanley have arrived from RB Leipzig and Brighton respectively, and will be joined by Joe Shields and Laurence Stewart in February once they’ve seen out their notice periods at Southampton and Monaco.
