Manchester City forward Jack Grealish provided the assist for Riyad Mahrez’s winner in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.

Grealish put in a brilliant low cross across the Chelsea box which Mahrez tapped in to secure an important victory for Manchester City.

Grealish didn’t start the game against Chelsea but came on in the 60th minute for Phil Foden.

Grealish has revealed Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola asked him to be aggressive and attack Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta.

Grealish told Sky Sports: “The manager told me to be aggressive and attack Azpilicueta and stay high and wide.

“It was weird, I was speaking to Riyad [Mahrez] inside and he said he thought the keeper was going to get it at one point and so did I. I’ve put my head down and crossed it and thought ‘nah, Erling’s got to be somewhere’.

“I’m just hitting it because he’s always in there, and I asked him and he said ‘everyone went in, so I pulled back’.

“I felt like the keeper was going to get it at one point. I’m going to praise my cross though! When it went across the goal I thought I’d played it too close to him.”
