Brazilian club Vasco da Gama has confirmed the transfer of 18 year old Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos to Chelsea.

The fee is undisclosed but is reported to be £13 million. It is expected that Santos will either go into the club’s development squad or be sent out on loan for experience.

Santos becomes Chelsea’s third signing of the January window after David Datro Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, who arrived from Molde and Monaco respectively.

Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification next season following Thursday’s 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge to Manchester City.
