Portugal international Joao Felix has been left out of Atletico Madrid’s Copa del Rey squad amid interest from Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid take on Real Oviedo in the last 32 of the Spanish cup, but will do so without their record signing.

Felix is keen on leaving Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window due to his poor relationship with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.

The 23 year old impressed for Portugal at the World Cup and managed to score on his LaLiga comeback in Atleti’s final game before the transfer window opened.

Felix joined Atleti from Benfica for a whopping £112m in 2019, making him the fourth most expensive football player of all time.

Atletico are believed to be seeking a €21million (£18.6m; $22.5m) package, comprising a €15m loan fee plus €6m gross salary, according to The Athletic.

Chelsea are interested in signing Felix on loan in January but are only prepared to pay less than half of the €15million loan fee that Atletico Madrid are demanding.
