Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed centre-back Ruben Dias is unavailable for selection for Thursday’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

Guardiola also revealed Aymeric Laporte’s availability for the game against Chelsea will be decided after this afternoon’s training session.

Dias picked up an injury while representing Portugal at the World Cup and is yet to feature in a matchday squad after the World Cup.

Laporte was part of the Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar and played in City’s first game after the break – a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool on 22 December.

Since then, the defender has been an unused substitute at Leeds United and was not involved in the New Year’s Eve draw with Everton.

Guardiola said: “Ruben is out. Aymer [Laporte], we will see today at the training session.”
