Tottenham Hotspur Women have completed the signing of Chelsea Women striker Bethany England.
The 28-year-old England international has signed a contract until June 2026 for an undisclosed fee after spending seven years in west London.
England joined Chelsea from Doncaster Belles in January 2016 and went on to score 42 league goals in 86 appearances.
The 2020 PFA Women’s Player of the Year opted to move to Tottenham Hotspur after making just two starts for Chelsea this season.
“I’m excited to get going,” she told Tottenham’s official website. “The club has got a lot of ambitions and I’m hoping that I can add to that and hopefully get the club where it wants to be.
“It’s definitely going to be a challenge; different for me going from blue to white after obviously spending so long at Chelsea, but I’m excited for it and it’s something that I’m going to relish, a challenge that I’ll embrace with open arms.
“I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing new chapter for me and hopefully I can bring a lot of goals to the club, as well as my experience and just a bit of leadership in the front line.
“I already think the club has got a lot of things going for it but for me, I’m quite driven, quite a strong person – I can be a loud character, I do want to give my best and I’m extremely competitive. I don’t care if it’s a game of cards or a game of bingo, I want to win, so hopefully I can help to make sure we’re a bit more ruthless in front of goal and get the team where it needs to be.”
