According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea transfer target and Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez has told Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt that joining Chelsea is his priority.
Romano tweeted: “Enzo Fernández has already spoken to Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt on today’s training session, he confirmed that he wants Chelsea move as main priority.
“Negotiations will continue between the two clubs later tonight, crucial 24/48h to close the deal.”
Fernandez has also reportedly told Benfica he does not want to be involved in their game against Portimonense on Friday.
The Argentina international is keen on joining Chelsea this month after agreeing personal terms with the Blues.
The Blues have offered a Premier League record fee of £112million for the transfer of Fernandez, who was named the Best Young Player of the World Cup.
Fernandez played 89 minutes in Benfica’s first game back after the World Cup last Friday, a 3-0 defeat to Braga.
