Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been blasted for signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona last summer.

According to Jamie Redknapp, Aubameyang was never the answer to Chelsea’s scoring struggles and believes the 33 year old striker is past his best.

Aubameyang has scored just one Premier League goal since joining Chelsea from Barcelona and missed a great chance to score late on in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.

Redknapp said: “He wasn’t the answer at Arsenal so he’s not going to be the answer now at Chelsea.

“He’s getting older now. He’s not the player that he was. They’re trying to get [Christopher] Nkunku, that’s the player they’re after, whether they are going to get him I’m not sure.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea record signing Romelu Lukaku has revealed he wants to leave Chelsea permanently for Inter Milan.

The Belgian forward moved back to Inter last summer on an €8 million loan deal, one year after re-signing for Chelsea for a club record £98m fee.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Lukaku said: “I spoke to Chelsea about my relationship with the coach and I decided to come back to Inter. Things went very fast and I’m happy.

“I hope to stay at Inter, Inter for me is everything. But we need to find a way with Chelsea.”
