Chelsea have reached an agreement with AS Monaco to sign defender Benoit Badiashile, according to The Athletic.
The deal for the 21-year-old is worth in the region of €37-38million (£32.8m-£33.7m).
Chelsea have also reached an agreement on personal terms with Badiashile and the centre-back is now set to travel to London for his Chelsea medical.
Chelsea had been keen on signing a left-sided centre-back and switched focus to Badiashile after failing to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Josko Gvardiol last summer.
Chelsea also reportedly considered moves for 23-year-old Evan N’Dicka of Eintracht Frankfurt and 20-year-old Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen.
Badiashile is a 6ft 4in defender who is good on the ball, incredibly fast and who has impressed in France by regularly stealing the ball off opponents without having to go to ground.
He has made 135 appearances for Monaco in the past four and a half seasons and has been capped twice by France.
