Former Birmingham City CEO Dong Ren has revealed England international Jude Bellingham snubbed a transfer to Chelsea after a meeting with former Chelsea director Marina Granovskai and former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.
Bellingham also snubbed offers from Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers to join Borussia Dortmund in 2020 on a £54,000 a week salary.
“He went to Stamford Bridge to have a meeting with Chelsea. He met with [former director] Marina Granovskaia in person,” former Birmingham chief Dong Ren told The Times.
“They had a meeting organised by [then manager] Frank Lampard. He told him his plan for him but he didn’t convince him.
“Just before the final three games of the season, he decided to go to Dortmund.”
Bellingham is now set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer and according to Ren, Bellingham’s next move will be influenced by “the project” rather than money.
