Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has heaped praise on Thiago Silva and described the Chelsea defender as a ‘monster’.
Silva and Guimaraes were both part of the Brazil World Cup squad that impressed in Qatar before a quarter-final defeat to Croatia.
Guimaraes told the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “Thiago Silva, he’s a monster. He helps the Brazilian team a lot.
“He’s always played at the highest level. It’s difficult to be his age and play the same way he played when he was 18 years old… but he does it. He’s an amazing player.”
Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are interested in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo and may move for the Ecuador World Cup star in January.
Jacobs tweeted: “Moisés Caicedo to Chelsea is one to watch. There is a real sense, from multiple sources, Chelsea may move.
“Graham Potter when still at Brighton joked £42m would only ‘get his boots’. Brighton want around £70-£75m.
“Brighton aren’t going to entertain any cut-price sale. They’ll inflate the price and knowing Chelsea paid an above-market-value fee (£62m) for Marc Cucurella only strengthens their position.
“Brighton don’t need to sell in January either. Chelsea weighing up an approach as a result.
“Caicedo’s agent situation is complicated. This presents problems when doing a deal. Liverpool explored Caicedo when at Independiente del Valle. They saw value (Brighton ended up paying just £4.5m) but a move came with all kinds of other costs and multiple agents claimed a cut.”
