Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos was jokingly tied up by his Vasco da Gama teammates in an attempt to stop him from joining Chelsea.
Chelsea have reached an agreement with Vasco for the transfer of Santos with the 18 year old set to arrive London this week for his Chelsea medical.
Despite his age, Santos has already made 37 appearances for the Brazilian second-tier side, scoring eight goals along the way. He has also been capped at under-20 level for Brazil.
Chelsea beat Manchester City and Newcastle United to the transfer of the Brazilian midfielder and he is seen as the future in Chelsea’s midfield with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho already in their 30s.
Meanwhile, Chelsea star Kai Havertz has admitted Chelsea boss Graham Potter gives him freedom on the pitch following his impressive performance in the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Havertz played in the centre of Chelsea’s attack and got a goal and assist to help the Blues end a three-game losing streak and get a vital three points in the Premier League.
Havertz said to Amazon Prime: “[Potter] gives me the freedom to do whatever I feel comfortable on the pitch. I like to play free and to be in the box. He gives me a lot of confidence.”
