Chelsea are in talks with 31 year old midfielder Jorginho over a new contract, according to his agent Joao Santos.
The Italy international’s current deal expires in the summer and despite Chelsea’s interest in signing Argentina World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez, the Blues are keen on keeping Jorginho at the club.
“Jorginho’s deal expires on June 30, we have a renewal proposal and we give priority to Chelsea,” Santos said as per TuttoMercato.
Santos also added that Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli also highly rates Jorginho but admitted there had been no contact from the Serie A leaders.
Santos added: “Naples represented our home in Italy, Giuntoli greatly appreciates the boy, for us it is a special square.
“If there was a new interest we would be happy, but at the moment Napoli have not had contact with us.”
Premier League side Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Jorginho should the midfielder become a free agent at the end of the season.
