Chelsea star Kai Havertz has admitted Chelsea boss Graham Potter gives him freedom on the pitch following his impressive performance in the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Havertz played in the centre of Chelsea’s attack and got a goal and assist to help the Blues end a three-game losing streak and get a vital three points in the Premier League.
Havertz said to Amazon Prime: “[Potter] gives me the freedom to do whatever I feel comfortable on the pitch. I like to play free and to be in the box. He gives me a lot of confidence.”
Havertz and his Chelsea teammates will hope to make it two wins in a row when the Blues take on Nottingham Forest on January 1.
Meanwhile, Potter has been urged to always start Havertz following his performance in the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea legend Joe Cole was impressed with the performance of Havertz against Bournemouth and insists the German international is the way forward for the Blues.
Cole told Amazon Prime: “Kai Havertz is a very good guy. We want him to be more mean, we want him to do what he did today. Breaking his neck to get in those positions to score goals, like he did tonight.
“He led the line, he was excellent tonight, got a goal and an assist. That was a real bold decision from Graham Potter because Aubameyang is on the bench, a proven goal scorer, he’s gone with Havertz and I think that’s the way forward for Chelsea.”
