Chelsea are keen on signing Argentina World Cup star Enzo Fernandez as a replacement for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, according to Daily Mail.
As part of an overhaul of Chelsea under new owner Todd Boehly, the Blues have been focusing on investing in young players, at the expense of those who are older and more experienced.
Jorginho, 31, will have his Chelsea contract expire at the end of the season and the Blues want a younger midfielder to replace the Italian international.
Fernandez, who won the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar earlier this month, was named Young Player of the Tournament.
Chelsea have already completed the transfer of 18 year old Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are ready to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong if the Netherlands international becomes available, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
De Jong was heavily linked with a £72million move to Manchester United last summer but the Blues were also interested in signing the Barcelona midfielder.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano said: “Let’s remember, last summer, Chelsea also wanted him – not just Manchester United. So I would always keep an eye on Chelsea for Frenkie de Jong in case he changes his mind one day.”
