Chelsea boss Graham Potter has revealed what Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali told him amid reports claiming Chelsea are interested in hiring former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.
Potter has been assured by co-owner Behdad Eghbali that he has a long-term future as Chelsea manager despite Chelsea slipping to 8th in the Premier League after three successive defeats.
Potter jetted to California during the World Cup to meet up with Eghbali, the most significant investor behind chairman Todd Boehly.
“I’m even more confident, even more aware of the support I have now than three months ago when I took the job,” Potter said. “It’s a credit to them and how they have communicated with me, it’s been fantastic.
“We all know the pressure and demands at this club, but we have also got enough people who can see the perspective and where we are at to be able to say, ‘This is where we are, how can we improve?’
“I’m really looking forward to the weeks, months and years ahead. We understand where we are at and the challenges.”
Potter was accompanied to the US by wife Rachel. “She’s thinking about what a wonderful time we’re having and I’m staring into the Pacific thinking about Chelsea,” he added.
“Thankfully she’s been with me long enough to know that’s how it is.”
