Premier League rivals Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with PSV Eindhoven to sign Chelsea transfer target Cody Gakpo in January.

PSV have given Gakpo the permission to travel to Liverpool for a medical ahead of completing the switch.

PSV released a statement which reads: “PSV and Liverpool have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo.

“The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.”

Chelsea were also interested in signing the 23 year old forward while Manchester United wanted him as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gakpo has accumulated 35 goals and assists for PSV and the Dutch national team this season, maintaining the prolific form he showed in 2021-22.
