Chelsea will have to make Josko Gvardiol ‘the most expensive centre-back ever’ if the Blues want the 20 year old centre-back at Stamford Bridge, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in signing the Croatian international.

Chelsea tried to sign Gvardiol in the summer but failed to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig despite agreeing personal terms with the centre-back.

Chelsea began keeping tabs on Gvardiol’s progress when he was 16 and the club’s interest has refused to go away.

Romano told GiveMeSport: “Now, Leipzig want way more than €90million. They hope to go for more than €100million to make Gvardiol the most expensive centre-back ever.

“Chelsea are still working on it. They are still in contact with people close to the player and Leipzig.”
