Chelsea have made it official that the Blues are interested in signing 23 year old Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi ahead of the winter window, according to Simon Phillips.
The 23 year old midfielder is also attracting interest from Spanish side Barcelona. Premier League rivals Manchester United are also interested in signing the Real Sociedad midfielder.
Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “I was given the name Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, a Spain international. Chelsea have registered their official interest in him with his agent, so they have started that.
“Barcelona are another club that are interested in signing him. Apparently, Xavi really likes him.”
The tough-tackling midfielder has a £56 million release clause written into his Real Sociedad contract which expires in 2027.
With both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho out of contract in just over six months’ time, Zubimendi may be viewed as the ideal replacement for the pair by Chelsea boss Graham Potter.
