Bayern Munich chief Hasan Salihamidzic has revealed the German side won’t be competing with Chelsea for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
Salihamidzic told Sky Germany: “We have good coverage in the centre-back positions with Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano and Lucas Hernández, three top players.
“We also have Josip Stanišić who has to make appearances.
“Therefore, we do not plan to sign another centre-back…”
Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly accelerated talks to sign RB Leipzig defender and Croatian international Josko Gvardiol ahead of the January transfer window.
Dean Jones told GiveMeSport: “On the back of his World Cup performances, this is the time to accelerate talks with Gvardiol, not find an alternative.
“As far as I understand, that is exactly what’s happened. Chelsea are looking to get this Gvardiol deal sealed as soon as they possibly can.”
