Only a “few teams” can afford Argentina World Cup star and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, according to the goalkeeper’s agent.
The Blues have been linked with a move for the goalkeeper after he played a crucial role as Argentina won the 2022 World Cup.
Gustavo Goni has discussed Martinez’s desire to play at the highest level when asked about a possible move to Italy.
“Today there are few teams that can afford a goalkeeper like him,” Goni told tuttomercatoweb.
“But Serie A, well, why not? He is clearly aiming high, for the Champions League.”
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Emiliano Martinez could replace Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea.
The 30-year-old is one of the most talked about footballers in the world after an excellent World Cup campaign for Argentina.
If Emiliano Martinez’s penalty shootout heroics against the Netherlands didn’t already make him a hero, his exploits against France certainly did.
Romano told the House of Champions podcast: “Let’s see in the summer, the domino effect with start with goalkeepers, maybe Chelsea or maybe with Man United. Emi Martinez could be one of them [who could potentially join these two teams if such a situation occurs].”
