Chelsea are set to submit a bid of €90million for Brighton and Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to a report on Goal.

The Blues reportedly see the Ecuador World Cup star as a long-term replacement for Chelsea legend N’Golo Kante, who could leave Stamford Bridge as a free agent at the end of the season.

At just 21, Caicedo has already racked up 28 appearances for his country and was part of an exciting side that was unlucky not to come through a tricky group in Qatar.

Caicedo has impressed for both club and country this season, and while he was initially valued at €38m, his price has increased due to multiple clubs bidding for him.

As per the report, Liverpool are willing to pay €80m for the Ecuador midfielder, therefore Chelsea are willing to pay an excessive fee to ward off their rival’s interest.

Caicedo joined Brighton in 2021 for £5 million and has played every league game for the Seagulls this season in an impressive run that has left them seventh.

Caicedo has three years remaining on his contract with Brighton, meaning the Seagulls are unlikely to feel pressured into shipping the midfielder off any time soon.
