According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Argentina World Cup goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez could replace Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea.

The 30-year-old is one of the most talked about footballers in the world after an excellent World Cup campaign for Argentina.

If Emiliano Martinez’s penalty shootout heroics against the Netherlands didn’t already make him a hero, his exploits against France certainly did.

Romano told the House of Champions podcast: “Let’s see in the summer, the domino effect with start with goalkeepers, maybe Chelsea or maybe with Man United. Emi Martinez could be one of them [who could potentially join these two teams if such a situation occurs].”

Meanwhile, former Chelsea and West Ham right-back Glen Johnson has backed West Ham captain and England international Declan Rice to join Chelsea.

“I don’t want him to but he needs to move if he wants to kick on in his career,” Johnson told GGRecon.

“I think he will end up at Chelsea because he has a soft spot for the club and he knows a number of the lads there. However, you can never know where he will go because he will have a lot of options.”
