Manchester United have joined Premier League rivals Chelsea in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund and Germany forward Youssoufa Moukoko.

Premier League rivals Liverpool have also joined the race to sign the 18 year old forward who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

According to The Times, Manchester United and Liverpool are both firmly in the race to sign Moukoko who has been strongly linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge.

Moukoko is viewed as one of the most exciting talents in world football, having already made more than 50 appearances for Dortmund and making his international debut.

With Moukoko’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Borussia Dortmund will consider selling him in January unless they can tie him down to a new long-term deal.

Despite the massive interest in Moukoko, it is believed the teenager does not want his development to stall so is wary about leaving Borussia Dortmund only for his career to stagnate.

Moukoko addressed the mounting speculation over his future at a Germany press conference last month and said: “I feel very comfortable in Dortmund, I feel the confidence of the coach. You’ll find out in the end whether I decide to stay or not.”
