Chelsea have entered the race for Atlético Madrid right-back and Argentina international Nahuel Molina, according to Spanish media outlet Marca.

The Argentine has been impressive for the Albiceleste at the ongoing World Cup, scoring the opener against Netherlands in the quarter-final.

Atlético could be tempted to sell the player given their financial condition, but Diego Simeone is a big admirer of the player and would want to keep him at the club at all costs, given he is the only natural right-back in the squad.

Chelsea reportedly tried to sign Molina before he left Udinese for Atletico Madrid in the summer and the Blues are ready to make a move again for the right-back although Chelsea’s primary target for the full-back position is Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan.

Atletico Madrid believe Molina can develop into one of the world’s best right-backs and it would take something special from Chelsea for Atletico Madrid  to sell the right-back in January.

Meanwhile, according to Calciomercato, Inter Milan have slapped a €50million (£43m) price tag on Chelsea transfer target Denzel Dumfries.

Further details of the report claim the Serie A side will demand a further £8.6m in bonuses as they are reportedly in need of funds as the effects of the pandemic continue to hurt them.

The player is also being targeted by Premier League rivals Manchester United and Spurs who have been alerted by the Dutchman’s impressive displays at the ongoing Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Dumfries’ contract at the San Siro runs until 2026, and also the player is reportedly not desperate to leave the Serie A side.
