Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has told Cristiano Ronaldo to join Chelsea in January.

Ronaldo, who will play no part in the World Cup following Portugal’s exit, is a free agent after his Manchester United contract was terminated before the World Cup.

“What I know is Todd Boehly wanted Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad when Thomas Tuchel did not,’ said Gallas.

“Maybe it’s a good opportunity for six months to bring Ronaldo to Chelsea.

“It would be good for Ronaldo to go to Chelsea so he can still play in the Champions League and it can benefit Chelsea too because they need a striker.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has warned Chelsea owner Todd Boehly against signing Ronaldo.

He said: “I don’t think Ronaldo is a good move for Graham Potter at all. Not so early in his Chelsea career to be dictated who comes in. He obviously wants to have a full say on what happens at the club and that would send out the wrong message straight away.”
