According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea are set to submit an offer of €100million for Croatian World Cup star Josko Gvardiol.

The 20 year old RB Leipzig defender has been one of the best players at the World Cup, helping Croatia reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Although comfortable at left-back, Gvardiol’s best position is centre-back where he has often played at RB Leipzig and the Croatia national team.

Chelsea face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United for the transfer of the 20 year old defender.

Meanwhile, West Ham boss David Moyes has hailed Croatian international and Chelsea transfer target Josko Gvardiol as one of the talents to watch at the World Cup.

Moyes believes the RB Leipzig defender will end up playing in the Premier League in the next few years.

Chelsea had attempted to sign Gvardiol in the closing stages of the summer transfer window but RB Leipzig rejected a huge €90 million (£77.4m) bid for the 20-year-old.

“I picked out Gvardiol, 20, as one of the talents to watch at this tournament and he really is going to be a super player,” Moyes wrote in his column for The Times.

“He was Croatia’s left back at Euro 2020 but is probably going to play most of his career at left centre back, where we’re seeing him here.

“He came through the Red Bull system and they excel at picking out new talents from eastern Europe.

“I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t come to the Premier League in the next couple of years.”
