Chelsea boss Graham Potter has provided a worrying update on Armando Broja after the striker suffered a knee injury in Chelsea’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Broja had to be stretchered off after suffering a serious knee injury in the friendly match against Aston Villa. For now, it’s too early to say how long exactly he will be out, but the early signs do not look good.
Potter said: “It was an unfortunate action, he got caught with their player in the ground. It does not look positive at the moment but it’s too early to say. We have our fingers crossed but it’s an awkward one.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action with a home match against Bournemouth on December 27 and it’s highly unlikely Broja will be available for the game.
Meanwhile, Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling claims Broja is the “fastest man in the world” and has predicted the Albanian to become a star at Chelsea.
During a chat with former Arsenal striker Ian Wright for UMM, Sterling revealed who the quickest player at Chelsea is, saying: “Armando Broja. Fastest man in the world. When people see him properly…yeah.”
Sterling added: “I always say he is the next one. It’s him. I’ve heard a lot of things about him before but never really watched him. He’s the truth.”
Broja has made 18 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season but has started only three matches and has racked up just 465 minutes of playing time so far.
