Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in the race for Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix after German club Bayern Munich pulled out of the race for the Portugal international.

Felix is keen on leaving Atletico Madrid in January after falling out with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing the La Liga star.

Bayern Munich had been previously linked with a move for the Portugal international but Sport1 journalist Karry Hau have debunked talk of Bayern’s interest in Felix saying,

“Bayern are no longer interested in Joao Felix, contrary to recent reports in Spain. The Portuguese striker was an option for Bayern last summer, but Félix is no longer an issue at Bayern.”

Atletico Madrid have slapped a price tag of £100million on Felix ahead of the January transfer window with Premier League rivals Arsenal also interested, according to Football London.

Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marin recently confirmed the La Liga side are open to selling the 23 year old forward in January.

When discussing Felix’s future at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, Marin said: “Joao Felix has top level but because of his relationship with Simeone and game time… we feel that makes sense to consider potential bids to sell him.”

Felix impressed for Portugal at the World Cup, grabbing a goal against Ghana in the group stages before notching two assists in the 6-1 last-16 win against Switzerland.
