As per journalist Alfredo Pedulla via Goal, Real Madrid are willing to pay a large amount to beat Chelsea to the transfer of Croatia and RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

Gvardiol has been one of the breakout stars of the World Cup, holding together Croatia’s defence in their journey to the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid are hoping veteran and Gvardiol’s Croatia teammate Luka Modric helps them by convincing him to join the Los Blancos.

Meanwhile, Premier League rivals Manchester City are ready to rival any bid for 20 year old Gvardiol, according to The Standard.

Gvardiol joined German side RB Leipzig back in 2020 and has slowly progressed into one of the Bundesliga’s best central defenders.
