Rafael Leao breaks silence on his future amid interest from Chelsea

Rafael Leao’s AC Milan contract expires in the summer of 2024 and he is yet to reach an agreement with the Italian club over a new contract amid interest from Chelsea.

Leao has said he will speak to AC Milan about his ‘contract situation’ once the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is over.

Speaking about his future in Italy, Leao told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I will speak to AC Milan [again] about my contract situation once the World Cup is over.

“We had a positive meeting with [technical director] Paolo Maldini before the World Cup, it was a good one – we’ll enter into details after the break.”

Leao scored 11 times in the league in 34 appearances for AC Milan last season. His contribution helped the club secure their first Scudetto in 11 years.

The 23-year-old has continued to excel this season, scoring six times and recording nine assists across 18 appearances in all competitions.
