‘Chelsea will fight tooth and nail to keep him’ – Liverpool warned it will take a huge fee to sign this Chelsea star

Premier League rivals Liverpool have been warned it will take a huge fee to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount despite his contract expiring in 2024.

Mount rejected a new contract offer from Chelsea worth £200,000-a-week and is holding out for a £300,000-a-week deal.

Liverpool and Juventus are keeping tabs on the England international amid the growing uncertainty over his future at Chelsea.

Paul Robinson told Football Insider: “Players of Mount’s ilk do not come around very often.

“Look, Chelsea will be desperate to keep hold of him so they will struggle to get him. There is also an emotional connection between the player and Chelsea.

“Realistically, can I see it happening? No. Would it benefit Liverpool? Yes, hugely.

“Financially it would have to be a big offer, even if he gets into the last 12 months of his contract. Chelsea will fight tooth and nail to keep him. It would take a huge fee.”
