According to Daily Mail, Chelsea star Mason Mount rejected a £200,000-a-week contract offer from Chelsea before flying out to the World Cup.

Mount’s representatives are believed to be seeking a contract similar to Raheem Sterling, who was given a £300,000-a-week deal on signing from Manchester City last summer.

Mount’s apparent reluctance to sign is a concern for Chelsea, because he has just 18 months left on his current Chelsea contract.

Mount is one of the lowest paid players at Chelsea, with the 23 year old earning around £85,000 a week. The contract was signed shortly after he returned to the club from his loan spell at Derby three years ago.

Mount’s Chelsea teammates Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah have recently signed long-term deals with Chelsea.
