According to media outlet Fichajes via Goal, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was promised the signing of AC Milan star Rafael Leao as part of his recent contract renewal.

Leão has been one of the breakout talents of the past two seasons. In the last campaign, he led AC Milan to their first Serie A title in a decade for which he won the MVP award. This year he has again started on the front foot with 6 goals and 4 assists in 14 league games.

The Portuguese winger’s contract expires in 2024, with many clubs looking to sign him for a bargain next summer in case he doesn’t renew.

Manchester City will face competition from rivals Chelsea and Real Madrid for the transfer of the 23 year old, who has a release clause of €150million.
