According to Football London, Chelsea have taken a closer look at Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier with the view of making him the first signing of the Graham Potter era.

Potter doesn’t trust Chelsea current goalkeepers Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga and is keen on signing a new goalkeeper in January.

Potter has a positive track record of placing his faith and trust into young players and has often favoured the signings of players with potential over ready-made ability.

The Chelsea boss believes Meslier, 22, has the potential to become the best goalkeeper in the world.

Potter is reportedly impressed with Meslier’s ball distribution as well as his stop stopping abilities.
