Chelsea are set to miss out on January transfer target Konrad Laimer after the Austrian midfielder chose Bayern Munich as his next club, according to journalist Christian Falk via The Express.

The 25 year old RB Leipzig midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the season and has opted to remain in Germany having also rejected a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Laimer wants to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich as a free agent in the summer and has rejected a move to Chelsea in January.

Laimer has made 167 appearances for Leipzig since joining the club from sister team RB Salzburg in 2017. He has played just 10 games in all competitions during the current campaign after suffering a knee injury in September and he is not expected to return until the new year.
