According to The Mirror, the Blues are ready to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in January if Manchester United follow through with their plan to sack the Portuguese international.

Manchester United want to sack Ronaldo following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan in which he blasted Manchester United at all levels.

Should Manchester United sack Ronaldo, the Red Devils will be powerless to prevent the 37 year old forward from joining Chelsea as he will become a free agent.

Manchester United do not want Ronaldo to join a club they view as rivals for a top-four place and are now facing an agonising situation of watching Ronaldo play for a Premier League rival should they sack the Portuguese international.
