Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been urged to sign Chelsea stars Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante by former Premier League goalkeeper Brad Friedel.

Mount’s current contract expires in the summer of 2024 and talks over a new deal have stalled, putting Liverpool and Serie A giants Juventus on high alert.

Kante’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season and the midfielder is yet to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a new contract.

“Mason Mount is an exceptional player but the only time it would be a no-brainer for Jurgen Klopp is if it works financially for Chelsea and Liverpool,” Friedel told Betway.

“The player has to want to make the move and the rumour that Klopp wants him has to be true.

“I think these moves for players, as good as Mount is, only work if everyone is in agreement for it. But it’s clear he’s a very good player and he’d be a good signing for Liverpool.”

He added: “I know deals for Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham may be in talks, but if a player like N’Golo Kante comes along on a free then he’s going to have to play.

“Kante is really good, there’s been some injury issues, sure, but he’s outstanding.

“Klopp knows better than me but I think Kante will have a lot of interested clubs and he’d be an incredible signing for any of them, including Liverpool.

“With regards to Bellingham, this kid has had such an incredible career in front of him and that will come down for the money. I’m so excited to see him at the World Cup.”
