Chelsea legend John Terry has congratulated Gary Cahill on a magnificent career after the former Chelsea captain announced his retirement.

The 36-year-old had been without a club since leaving Bournemouth in the summer and has now called time on his playing career.

“Congratulations on an unbelievable career mate,” Terry wrote on Twitter.

“It was a pleasure to play alongside you big man and share the dressing room with you. Great player and great man Look at the size of those biceps, the captain’s armband is slightly bigger after I passed it on.”

Cahill joined Chelsea from Bolton in 2012, winning the Champions League and two Premier League titles before leaving the club for Crystal Palace in 2019.
