Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy wants to leave the club after losing his first-team place to Kepa Arrizabalaga since Graham Potter took charge, according to Daily Mail.

Mendy has been a major success at Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Rennes in a deal worth £22million in 2020.

But his position as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper has been thrown into doubt following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel and arrival current head coach Graham Potter.

With Mendy out injured, Kepa Arrizabalaga started Potter’s reign as Chelsea’s first-choice keeper and continued as first-choice even after Mendy returned from injury.

Mendy returned to the starting XI in the last four games due to Kepa sustaining an injury, with the Blues losing three of the games.

Mendy remains hopeful that he can convince Potter that he deserves to reclaim his position as No 1 but there are fears that the Blues boss has already decided that Arrizabalaga – fitness permitting – will start as first-choice once the Premier League resumes next month.

Mendy or Kepa, who should be Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper?
