Chelsea right-back Reece James has hinted at outrage at Ivan Toney failing to make England World Cup squad.
Toney scored twice as Brentford beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The England striker posted an image of himself with his fingers in his ears as he celebrated one of his two goals.
Chelsea right-back James commented on the picture, saying: “If I speak I’m in big trouble”, with a laughing emoji next to it. It was a reference to Jose Mourinho’s infamous rant.
Toney was surprisingly omitted from England’s World Cup squad despite his excellent form for Brentford this season, having scored 10 goals in 14 Premier League matches this season.
