Chelsea legend Paul Canoville has sent a message to Chelsea star Reece James after his omission from the England World Cup squad due to injury.

England manager Gareth Southgate opted against taking James to the World Cup as the Chelsea right-back will only be fit for the knockout stage of the tournament.

Canoville said: “You’re a magnificent young man and phenomenal footballer. Rest up and come back better than ever.

“There will be more World Cups to come as, with Chelsea, you become one of the greatest players in world football.”
