Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will complete the signing of RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku in January despite Oliver Mintzlaff leaving his role as RB Leipzig director of football in December, according to Sport Bild.
Mintzlaff moves to become CEO of the Red Bull group in December while RB Leipzig new director of football is set to be Max Eberl.
The change at RB Leipzig will reportedly not affect Chelsea’s deal to sign Nkunku in January as the incoming director of football has been told to get the deal done for Nkunku.
Chelsea have struggled in recent weeks under Graham Potter with the new Chelsea manager working with the same attackers that Thomas Tuchel failed to get the best out of.
Nkunku is expected to add spark to Chelsea’s attack after scoring 35 goals last season. This season he already has 12 goals in 14 league appearances for RB Leipzig. The 24-year-old is able to play on the wing, as a No.10 and a striker.
